Born in Israel, Barkai is a graduate of the School of Visual Arts Photography Department. She is based in NYC, where she works as a freelance photographer specializing in food and stilllife. She started her career as a military photographer, working for the IDF official magazine, as she is the recipient of the National Press Photographers Foundation Grant. Barkai is also the creator of Walking Men Worldwide™, a series of public art installations that has been exhibited around the globe. Her work has been featured in the NY Times, Wall Street Journal, NY Daily News, and Telegraph.
